my family...Enjoy an assortment of pictures of Kathy & I and our family. There's our daughter Heather with her 2 girls, Shelby & Iris. And there's our Son, Sam, with his wife, Harumi and there 3 kids, Nick, Ethan, and Sky.
I've also included some pictures of my parents, Don and Dede Champlin, and some cool vintage pictures of my paternal grandparents, Nic & Mary Champlin, and maternal grandparents, Charlie & Camille Sellitti. The slide show will play and loop automatically. But you can speed it forward or move back by using the arrows that appear when hovering over the picture. I've added little informative captions on the bottom left of the photos. Enjoy! |

bio...
I was born to Don & Ann "Dede" Champlin. I grew up in a military family, spending half my youth in Germany and the rest scattered across the southern U.S. My father, grandfather and younger brother were all career soldiers and airmen, and my dream was to do the same. But my life took an unexpected turn in 1971, when I underwent a startling conversion to Christ, from atheism, at the age of seventeen.
I lived in Clearwater, Florida where I met and married Kathy Avera one year later, in 1972. We served in ministries working in evangelism, bible teaching, and juvenile court appointed rehab, throughout Tampa Bay and New Haven, CT. In 1975 at the age of 21 we pioneered our first church, called His Way Ministries (later changed to Faith Christian Church), in the city of New Haven, Connecticut. We spent several years meeting at YALE University with hundreds of members, before settling in West Haven. During the late 70s and 80s the church multiplied and thrived in many remarkable ways. From our early days at YALE we had attracted many students, grad-students, and professors, worshipping together with ex-addicts, business owners, and professionals. You name it, Faith Christian Church had it: young, elderly, wealthy, low income, Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, Jews, Gypsies were all worshipping Jesus Christ together, pioneering a revival in Connecticut and New England.
In 1990 Kathy and I and our two children, Heather and Sam, moved back to Clearwater Florida, planting a new Faith Christian Church, where I currently serve as Sr. Pastor. Having preached in Africa during the 1980s, GOD called me back there in 2002, when I founded Nigeria-Ijaw Mission to form a great church-planting partnership Wilson Okotie's High Impact Churches in the Niger Delta (Nigeria). Over the next 10 years we labored in remote indigenous Ijaw villages planting many churches training indigenous pastors, opening schools, and more. Today Nigeria Ijaw Mission serves a growing indigenous church-planting movement with nearly 20 village churches as well as a multiplying headquarters church in the city of Sapele, Nigeria.
Today I gratefully serve the congregation of Faith Christian Church in Clearwater and continue to participate in various outreaches.

guitars, playing and writing music
I am a guitar and amp junkie. There's just no hiding the fact. And I have a particular penchant for old vintage gear, probably because it was "the stuff" when I was young. I'm convinced they haven't been able to improve on the original classics: the Stratocaster, Les Paul, Telecaster, ES-335...(you see where my head's at). I play regularly with the FCC BAND from Faith Christian Church and occasionally out with friends. I have to imagine that when David became King he had a few really nice harps laying around, as well as some fellow musicians he jammed with. Anyway, you can always check out my Nick Champlin Facebook page for my latest acquisitions or my Vintage Guitar Amps page on Facebook. And I'll share a few show-and-tell pics here to hold you over...

travel
I love to travel. Probably caught the travel-bug when I was a kid living in Europe and doing transatlantic flights in the 50s and 60s.
